Published by the International City/County Management Association and written by Amelia Brown, this article explores how artists can contribute to community recovery in times of emergency. With the concurrent public health emergencies of racism and COVID-19 pandemic as a backdrop, Amelia outlines challenges and opportunities for an arts-based approach to emergency response. She provides real-world examples of how this work has been successfully executed in New Orleans, Minneapolis and New Zealand and makes recommendations for Public Managers.
