Street Dance Activism began as a series of workshops organized and led by dancer and activist Dr. Shamell Bell which aimed to provide foundational tools for the use of street dance in demonstrations as a form of self-care, resistance, and team building. Built on the belief that performance can disrupt social, economic, and historical paradigms, Street Dance Activism presents street dance as an alternative strategy for radical social change. Now, Street Dance Activation has expanded to offer weekly virtual workshops, Radical Embodiment talks with leading Black choreographers, embodied meditation and movement sessions, and more - all for free - on their website.
